In October 2009 my wife bought me a Ukulele for my birthday on the off chance that it might interest me. I don't think she realised just what she had set in motion until it was too late! ...
I immediately fell in love with the instrument and proceeded to spend all my available spare time learning how to play it.
It struck me that though there are many places on the internet where you can get all sorts of amazingly good tutorials (particularly on YouTube) there are very few that cater for someone who has never played the Uke, or for that matter any other instrument, at all.
So I decided to produce a series of Ukulele tutorials that an absolute beginner can use to learn how to get a tune out of the thing!

Here's the first Tutorial: An introduction, how to tune & strum the Uke and an easy first tune to play

And here's the second Tutorial: how to play the Major Chords and an easy version of
'The Blitzkrieg Bop'. Click here to download the songsheet for 'The Blitzkrieg Bop' to use along with the video, then right click anywhere on the image and select 'save image as' from the drop-down menu.

Here's a shorter version of the second Tutorial which is just the easy version of
'The Blitzkrieg Bop', without the Major Chords Tutorial.

Here's some links to some of my music videos:-

Original songs:-
My first attempt at UkuReggae ... This is my second foray into the world of animation and I'm still learning ...The song is about how we change with time and do we actually learn or do we just hide behind the 'wisdom' of age?
Ken & I recorded the song in early July 2011 at Soundscape - I then got a good friend of mine,Gaynor Williams, to sing the lead vocal and her husband and my wife did the backing vocals. The song ended up on the Shroprock CD and I always meant to make a video for it but never seemed to have the time to get Ken, Rob, Sheila & Gaynor together to film it. Someone sent me the live video footage from the ShropRock gig and, as I have always wanted to do an animated video i decided to use the live footage and see what I could do with it - this is the result and is my first foray into animated video ...
Ken and I actually began writing this song in 1993 and never really finished it so we decided to resurrect it for YouTube. So this song has been nearly 18 years in the making... The sentiment remains the same, though sadly a lot more singers/songwriters/rock stars etc have joined the list. The song was entered into an online song contest in jan 2012 and won first place in the Blues category and came overall 4th place
Original song. Written by Dave Cowton and Ken Evans, based on our experience of travelling to Ingelheim in Germany and playing at a Jethro Tull Convention at 'The Keller Kunst Keller' there in 1993, when we were in a band called '2 Bloody Rite'. Another original song: music by Ken, lyrics by Dave One of my own compositions this time. I played Ukes, Mandolin and Keyboards. The Drums and Bass are samples. 'Molly' is my wife's Avatar name and the photos are of her

Covers:-
My tribute to Bobby Boris Pickett and Vivian Stanshall (Bonzo Dog Band) without whom ... Played on Ukulele, Mandolin and Acoustic Guitar by Chili Monster & Val Frezi. Original song is by Blackmore's Night from the album 'Ghost Of A Rose'
My version of the Disney classic 'I Wanna Be Like You' - it should raise a laugh ... A christmas song based on ''I'm looking over my dead dog rover' by Ivor Biggun with extra lyrics by dave cowton. Played on ukulele.
Original song is by Blackmore's Night from the album 'Secret Voyage' Original song is by Blackmore's Night from the album 'Secret Voyage'
