The Making are a gigging four-piece Indie-Rock band from Telford, Shropshire. Since their formation in 2008, The Making have continued to grow. For any band to say that they have been gigging, writing and recording for almost three years is very impressive, but what makes it all the more impressive is that they are all still UNDER 16.
It all started in the late summer of 2008, when Dan (Oakey, now 15, Lead Vocals/Guitar) and Scott (Ridgway, now 15, Bass) decided they wanted to start a band, because they both love music. So they went out, bought some skinny jeans, grew some floppy fringes, picked up their instruments and set off on a relentless search for a drummer and a guitarist. It turns out that they didn't have to look far, as two of their best friends, Tom (Lowe, now 15, Drums/Backing Vocals) and Matt (Pownall, now 14, Guitar/Backing Vocals), were also budding musicians.

Soon after finding their feet, The Making entered the school "Battle of the Bands", and took the show by storm. They completely obliterated the opposition, by providing an entertaining set of covers, proving that this wasn't just a cheap school-boy dream.

2009 bought more glory for the four lads from Shropshire. They entered the local talent competition ("Newport's Got Talent"), and after getting through the first round of over 500 entrants, The Making made it into the final 10, which bought the opportunity to play at the finals at Newport Carnival. They faced stiff competition, and it was a nail-biting few minutes for such young musicians, but they came out victorious AGAIN! Proving once again that age is no matter. As a result of this victory, they got chosen to headline local music festival, "Jonesfest", and managed to get the crowd up and dancing even on a grim day.

2009 was a victorious start to their musical careers, but they knew they had so much more to give, so they took time out from gigging to practice and write some new material. In early August 2010, they unveiled a new and improved band, that had grown and matured in a matter of months, and they knew that 2010 would be their biggest year yet. They did many private parties and the odd gig, but it was on December 10th that they made everyone realise that something really special was about to happen.
They arrived at Wellington's The Wrekin Inn for their pub debut, and this particular pub was renowned for being a gateway for bands to really make a name for themselves. At first it looked like it would be a quiet night, but as their hour-and-a-half set went on, the place gradually filled up, and the atmosphere was fantastic, and towards the end of the set, the landlord was even dancing! This was an eye-opener for anyone that may have judged their talents by their ages.

As the band went into their third year, 2011 was shaping up to even bigger, and it still is! Having recorded their debut EP "Subtitles" at Robannas Studios with renowned producer Miguel Seco in February, The Making were booked for many local music venues, and with lots of gigs lined up for this year, make sure you check them out when you're around!

"Sinking Ships" is from the 3 track EP "Subtitles" and is one of their songs that has been regularly played on BBC Radio Shropshire's 'Introducing' Show.
They are currently gigging around Telford, festivals and headline gigs throughout the summer for this sought after band.
They are booked into Beacon Radio for interviews and an unplugged session in readiness for the listeners vote in August with a chance to play Telford Live in September (by taking part in a Beacon Radio Listeners Vote after being selected from about 52 applicants!)
